Sophia A. McClennen works on the intersections between culture, politics, and society. Her recent work has centered on the role of satire in advancing democracy and nonviolent resistance. In addition, she has published on human rights, globalization, media studies and critical theory. She is Professor of International Affairs and Comparative Literature at Penn State University and has a regular column with Salon.com.
